Mahamudra Course

24-27 August 2010

The Mahamudra (Great Seal) course will be held by Lama Ole Nydahl. This course is part of the large summer course, which also includes the Kalachakra inauguration.

Lama Ole will give daily lectures at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. In the mornings, everybody is welcome to work or meditate in the Gompa-tent, outside in the gorgeous nature here or in the nearby caves.

Because we are expecting more people than we have ever had in Berchen Ling, there will be some special conditions (please also see the GoodToKnow page):

  • The price for the event, including accommodations and food, is EUR 40 per day.
  • Please remember to bring your own tent. It won’t be possible to stay in the house.
  • There will not be a shuttle. You are encouraged to come by car. For further information see this special information page.
  • Because of the limited water capabilities, you will not be able to shower during the course, but we will set up “washing stations.” Out of compassion for the others attending the course, please also bring items such as deodorant, cologne/perfume and baby-wipes for personal hygiene during your stay.
  • Medical care: There will be medical care for serious illnesses or accidents, but please remember the following: you should have a valid tetanus vaccination and Travel Health Insurance, and you should also bring your own medicine, including bandages. If you take medication on a regular basis, please bring enough for your entire stay in Greece.
  • You won’t be able to charge your mobile phone, and we kindly ask you to turn it off while on site, or only use it in really urgent cases, because the network is quiet unstable.
  • Please don’t bring any electrical devices such as hair dryers, etc. You cannot use them at Berchen Ling because we produce our own electricity with a generator, and supply is very limited.
  • You can’t cook your own meals. Open fires are prohibited because of the danger of forest and bush fires. Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.
