History of the Stupa Project
In 1987, when Lama Ole Nydahl first visited the region together with his Greek students, he immediately recognized its uniqueness and they decided to buy a plot of land to build a meditation centre. Today, the centre belongs to the “Buddhism Foundation Diamondway” of the Karma Kagyu Lineage and is dedicated to the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, head of the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism.
Lopon Tsechu Rinpoche, who died in 2003, built 18 stupas in the West and was also the one who initiated the stupa activity at KBL. He once said: “In order to build a stupa, a lot of good conditions, wishes and good karma need to come together.” This means that we have to bring together all our diligence and strength, good motivation and wishes, power, wisdom and fearless joy together to make it happen. Together and with the blessings of Lopon Tsechu Rinpoche, Karmapa, Lama Ole and all the other masters of our lineage, we will realise our vision and goal – for the benefit of all!!!

We finally received the building permit for the Kalachakra Stupa in Karma Berchen Ling. This means that we are going to start building the Stupa in May 2010 and complete it by the end of August. According to the current plan, Lama Chogdrup Dorje and Lama Ole Nydahl are going to inaugurate the stupa from 21 to 23 August 2010. The ceremonies will take place during a Kalachakra meditation retreat and subsequent Great Seal course (2010 Programme).
All your good wishes and support are most welcome.
